Idol on the Way Out???

Wow! You've got to think that Simon Cowell has known something that we are all just figuring out. This folks, looks like the last season that Idol will be the mega hit it has become. This season is chock full of marginal singers, many of whom might not even win top prize at a kareoke contest in their home town.

Last night's elimination got it wrong, sending home the quirky Lilly Scott and the smooth voiced, extremely talented Alex Lambert. Lambert was one of the most unique, marketable singers of Season 9 and he was absolutely ROBBED!!!! In my opinion, Todrick Hall, while talented was never really in it to win it, so no surprise that he was sent packing. I did however hate to see Katelyn Epperly go. I don't think she would have won the competition, but I loved her bubbly persona and that crazy, signature hair! The girl is beautiful and talented so I won't be surprised to see her pop up again somewhere!

The fact that Paige Miles and Tim Urban made it into the top 12 is largely due to the website votefortheworst.com. Yes, you heard me right, there is a website devoted to voting for the worst Idol contestants! That's one of the reasons I think the validity of the show is in jeopardy. I mean these guys posted the following on their website last night : "WOW, a totally unexpected DOUBLE VFTW Victory! Paige Miles and Tim Urban are both in the top 12. Lilly, Katelyn, and Alex who were expected to get spots, didn't. So now we have 2 good VFTW contestants in the top 12 with excellent backup like Aaron, Andrew, Kaite and Lacey. How hilariously awesome. There won't be a shortage of VFTW picks".
It's a sad commentary when a website like this full of haters basically steals someone's dreams who should be in the top 12, just to lay claim to the fact that they helped a lesser talented contestant stay in the competition.

A powerful following of people hell bent on trying to rig the results, combined with a lackluster group of contestants and the departure of Simon Cowell sadly almost gaurantees that American Idol will become more & more less credible, and ultimately cease to be must see t.v.

Sidenote: I really love the edition of Ellen to the show! She brings a warm, human touch to the judge's table and really takes the contestant's feelings into consideration.
